If you’ve ever dealt with wall thinning or those annoying pearlescent streaks in your PET preforms, you know the drill. It all comes down to the temperature ramp-up. If that curve isn’t steady, you’re in trouble. The real headache starts when you swap out original lamps for third-party ones. Most of the time, the heating curve shifts, and suddenly your bottles aren’t coming out right. We fixed that by building our replacement lamps to mirror the Sidel Matrix specs exactly.
It’s more than just wattage
Here’s the thing: a lot of people think matching the wattage is enough. It isn’t. We obsess over the voltage, the length of the filament, and even the thickness of the quartz. Why? Because if the voltage is off by even a tiny bit, your power supply has to fight to keep the current steady. That’s how you end up with lamps that burn out way too early or just don’t hit the right temp. By mirroring the electrical resistance of the original tube, the heat flux stays exactly where it should be. The best part? You don’t have to spend your entire weekend tweaking your oven settings.
The details that actually matter
A blow-molding lamp is only as good as its spectral output. We use high-purity quartz because it can handle the shock of rapid heating and cooling without cracking. Plus, we apply a specific coating that pushes the infrared energy straight into the preform. You don’t want your heat wasting away on the machine frame—you want it where the work is happening. And we made sure they’re a true drop-in fit. No forcing the glass into the sockets. When you have to shove a lamp in, you create stress points. Then, the second the machine starts vibrating, pop—there goes your lamp.
A quick tip for the floor
These are built for high-output lines, and they work great. But remember, high-wattage IR tubes get incredibly hot. Check your ventilation. Make sure your cooling fans are clean and actually spinning. If your cooling system is lagging, it doesn’t matter how perfect the lamp is—the sockets will overheat and kill the bulb’s lifespan. Keep it cool, and these things will last.
