Let’s be honest: OEM part costs for Krones Contiform blow molders can be a real pain in the neck. It feels like you’re paying a premium just for the name on the box. We decided to fix that. We’ve built a drop-in replacement lamp that hits all the factory specs but doesn’t eat your entire maintenance budget.
Getting the heat right
The goal here is simple: get the PET wall hot and uniform, and do it fast. But you have to do it without scorching the plastic. We use high-wattage quartz halogen tubes to make that happen. We spent a lot of time balancing the voltage and wattage so these things hit the target temperature in milliseconds. One quick tip, though. If you’re running these at full tilt,keep your cooling fans clean. If the air isn’t moving, the tubes will burn out way faster than they should. It’s just physics.
The nitty-gritty on the build
We use heavy-wall quartz glass because the constant heating and cooling (thermal cycling) can warp cheaper materials. Then there are the connectors. Depending on your oven, you’re likely looking at R7s or Sk15. We made sure the fit is tight. Why? Because a loose connection creates arcs, and arcs melt your sockets. That’s a headache nobody wants on a Tuesday morning. We also centered the filaments perfectly. This stops those annoying “hot spots” that lead to uneven bottle walls.
Putting them to work
The best part? These fit right into your Aoki or Krones heating modules. No rewiring the cabinet. No messing around with PLC settings. You just swap the dead tube and get the line moving again. But here is the catch: any high-output lamp is only as good as your power. If your voltage is jumping all over the place, it’ll kill these lamps just as fast as the expensive OEM ones. It’s worth double-checking your voltage regulators. At the end of the day, you get the same cycle times and the same bottle quality, just without the ridiculous overhead.
